An immediate difference you'll notice when it comes to the exterior of the 2020 Silverado 1500 and Silverado 2500 is the size. The 2500 model has an overall larger and more dramatic exterior with a length of 250 inches and a height of almost 80 inches, compared to the 1500 model which is close to 232 inches long and 78.3 inches high. The bed length on the Silverado 2500 is also longer at 82.3 inches, compared to the 69.9-inch bed length of the 1500 model.
The Silverado 1500 is available with optional power-retractable running boards and can be outfitted with differential, underbody, and transfer case skid plates. The running boards aren't an option for the 2500 model, and the skid plate additions are only available on the Chevy 2500 if you upgrade with a features package. Additionally, the Chevy 2500 comes standard with a BedStep, which the 1500 model does not include.
Similarities between the two trucks' exteriors include several optional upgrades, like Intellibeam headlamps and a power-up/power-down tailgate.
Interior
The 2020 Silverado 1500 and Silverado 2500 share several interior similarities. The front and back legroom is also the same for both 2020 Silverado models.
Powertrains
The 2020 Silverado 1500 and Silverado 2500 are equipped with different powertrains. The 1500 model comes with a 4.3-liter V-6 engine that offers 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque. There's also a 5.3-liter V-8 engine option, which gives you 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Additional powertrains available on the 1500 model include a 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine, a 6.2-liter V-8 engine, and a 2.7-liter Turbo engine.
The Silverado 2500 is equipped with a 6.6-liter V-8 gas engine that offers 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. A 6.6-liter Turbo-Diesel V-8 engine is also available and delivers 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque.
